Make your Own SAFE, NON TOXIC Lipstick!

Hey lovlies!
So you all know how much i LOVE my lip colour, honestly i feel naked without it! But i was shocked and a bit sickened to find out all the nasty and harmful chemicals that are still being used in lipsticks! Considering we consume on average 6000kg of lipstick, glosses and balms in a lifetime, thats ALOT of chemicals that we are ingesting!

Here is just a small list of some chemicals that are still being used today!

LEAD- Mostly found in red lipsticks, Very dangerous to pregnant women. Can cause brain and behavioral damage. The side effects are irreversible!

PROPYLENE/BUTYLENE GLYCOL- Found in lipsticks and fertilizer, coolant and Antifreeze!

METHYLPARABEN- Used in many cosmetics as a preservative, has been linked with causes of cancer and is highly toxic and haphazardness on your body!

These are only a few of the hundreds of ingredients that are used in lipstick today! Many of them are safe YES, but the ones that arnt, gees they are nasty!

Here is a list of some of the 400 brands that have tested positive to lead!

So now that all the doom and gloom is out of the way here is my solution!

MAKE YOUR OWN!!!

How you ask???....using crayons!!

Yes they are designed for kids, and most kids i know end up with them in their mouth lol.
So they are safe and non-Toxic and they have a massive choice of colour!!

YOU WILL NEED

1tsp of Shea Butter (you can use coco if you like)
1/2 Tsp Macadmica Oil (you can use coconut or olive etc)
Crayons- The colour depth and pay off depends on how many you use. I used 1/2 of the larger crayons.
Food grade fragrance if you wish.

METHOD

Cut your crayons to your desired length (depending on what result you want)
And peel off the wrapping
Place all ingredients into a saucepan or double boiler and place on the stove at a low heat
Continue to stir until it is 100% melted
Once melted pour into a container and allow it to cool. You can leave it to cool in the fridge or on the bench top.

Have fun mixing different colours, the possibilities are endless!
